General Conditions of the Nordic Association of Freight Forwarders

NSAB 2015 defines the rights and obligations between freight forwarders and their customers in the Nordic transport and logistics industry. Effective from January 1, 2016, it was developed through negotiations between the Nordic Association of Freight Forwarders and national industry organizations. The framework applies to freight forwarding, warehousing, and logistics services, setting clear liability limitations and responsibilities.

The liability for loss or damage to goods is limited to 8.33 Special Drawing Rights (SDR) per kilogram of the affected goods, while liability for delays is capped at the agreed freight cost. For warehousing, the total liability for damage from a single incident is limited to SDR 500,000. Additionally, claims against the freight forwarder become time-barred after one year.

Connexus’ Recommendation – Consider Separate Transport Insurance

While NSAB 2015 provides a structured liability framework, it does not fully cover the potential financial risk in case of high-value shipments or unforeseen incidents.

Connexus strongly recommends that clients assess their need for separate transport insurance to ensure adequate protection. A dedicated cargo insurance policy can provide coverage beyond the NSAB limitations, safeguarding your goods against potential losses and unexpected events during transport.
